Did you know that except for the coaches, the Langley Swim Team is a completely volunteer-run organization? It takes over 30 parent volunteers to time, officiate, score, and feed swimmers and spectators for a typical meet! Langley is extremely lucky to have excellent support from the Club and our lifeguards, but without parent volunteers the swim season simply would not happen – and your children would not enjoy the time of their lives each and every season.

The commitment required from each swim team family varies, depending on the
number of swimmers in your family and their level of involvement:

You should sign up for the majority of your volunteer slots during registration.
If you are new to the team and unsure about what a job requires, ask our volunteer coordinators, Karen Owczarski, email - KJKJKO at aol (dot) com, and Annette Kielkopf, email - kielkopf5 at verizon (dot) net, or our head official, Jim DeMocker, email - demockernvsl at yahoo (dot) com. They will be happy to explain the various jobs and all they entail. Karen and Annette are also the ones to contact if an emergency arises and you need to find another parent to cover your volunteer shift (although it’s your responsibility to find a replacement, Karen and Annette can help with contact info and availability).

The truth is, the volunteer jobs are easier than you think, and all are essential to making the Wildthings a memorable experience for your children.

Thank you for your help!
