Matt Stevenson

Matt grew up in McLean, Va. and played tennis competitively for the Bishop Ireton High School Varsity Team (#1 and 2 singles and doubles) and on the University of Virginia Club Tennis Team. Matt's teaching style is focused on building good technique through repetition of groundstrokes, volleys and serves; he emphasizes correct footwork and good movement, and includes singles and doubles strategy for intermediate to advanced players. Matt says, "I have a positive, encouraging style and like to get to know each student individually."

         - USPTR-certified tennis coach at professional level (highest of 3 rating levels)

         - Tennis Director at Langley Club starting in 2008.

         - Tennis professional at McLean Racquet & Health Club since 2006.

         - Currently taking USPTR continuing education courses in Junior Development and Performance (advanced
            junior) Development to add to existing certification.

Ed also grew up in McLean, and has just finished his senior season as the #1 singles and doubles player for Bishop O'Connell High School (Alexandria, Va.). Ed has been helping Matt and other coaches teach children at area clubs for the past 3 years, and is currently taking courses to gain USPTR certification by June 2011.

Matt says of Ed, "Ed has a knack for connecting with and encouraging young players. I expect him to be a big asset to the Langley program in 2011." Ed also possesses near-professional level topspin, slice, and flat serves, and is particularly recommended for instruction on serving.

Kitty Branche

Kitty is a McLean resident who just finished her junior year at Langley High School. She is the #2 player on Langley High School's  top-ranked Girls' Varsity Tennis Team.

Kitty is great with young children and has also worked with Matt, and other coaches in various clinics. Her extensive competitive experience will also be an asset to the boys and particularly girls on the Tysons Cup team.
